I have nearly finished the new book in the Edra series. 

These books are all set in the fictious world of Edra.  They all stand on their own, and do not follow any chronological pattern.  I have had great fun moulding and shaping the world of Edra but as usual the characters have their own ideas on things, as they always do in my worlds.  My characters are alive, they dive out of my brain and onto the page. 

Writing is my passion, has been since I was able to hold a pencil.

The process of writing for me is thus.  An idea forms in my head, put their by my muse, I believe, or a character comes fully formed into my thoughts.  Then I usually get the opening line and it starts from there.  It is the telling of a story, one which grabs and holds the reader`s attention.  When it is written, then I edit and believe me, sometimes that can go on for days.

So today, I have explained quite a bit about how I write and how it is that I form a world, or a story.  I hope that if you are a writer, this could be of interest to you.

Stifling heat and chattering voices

good afternoon.  The heat here is stiffling, I know, I know we in this country moan about the weather constantly but, trust me, the heat is stiffling.  It puts me in mind of a lot of Poppy Z Brite`s books, which I love, the imagery in them is straight into the brain and stays there.  Her characters are permanent etchings in my memories.

Also read a really good piece of news yesterday.  Lestat is back.  Yes the brat prince speaks once more.  Talk about a memorable character and from me you will always get Lestat and Armand, my two favourite vampires, just dont let my own vampire characters here that, they will definately sulk.

What about us?  Ok ok the suleskerry characters are having a rant in my head.  Well of course no one who has ever read about Ciaron can forget him, and sweet, long suffering Daniel, Guther, Angus, Merileana and of course later on the dark bittersweet and deadly Cal.  But seriously, all my characters are unforgetable to me, most of them have lived with me for years, through bad, really bad and just plain evil times.  They help, they helped a lot and now that I am happy with my soul mate, Becca, it is wonderful to be able to discuss them with her.

okay.  Did not mean this to become an emotional blog rant but it has.  So, coffee, black and ciggarette is in order.  I will leave you with Ciaron`s words from later on in the series when he talks to Daniel about Cal.

Today I am posting a character tasting from my books Suleskerry.

 

 

Ho. I am Ciaron Ap Ulnais and I am a selkie. Daniel did not believe at first but we were friends anyway, even though humans are strange and have lots of customs and things that I do not understand. Hmm.

{five minutes go by, then I have to remind him to carry on talking.}

Kach kesh, all right, all right. Apologies, I was; where was I? Oh aye I was telling you all about me. Heh heh I can not believe that you are not hearing of me before, but then I am supposing that our battles and adventures were hushed up, as Daniel says, by your ruling humans. Oh that is pretty can I have it?

{He is talking about my silver bracelet.}

Nuh? Ah well selkies love silver it shines like the moon, on our seas. Our Mother is in the sea, the Goddess, our Goddess. Can I go now, Daniel and Guther are going fishing.

{He sighs when I shake my head and fidgets with his rings for a second or two.}

I will tell you I am a very handsome selkie, Daniel thought I looked like a female but that was before he met other selkies. I love many, am a nomad by birth and was once called the dark destroyer, ha yes humans I was supposed to... tach...I am not giving away any plot, whatever that is. Goddess humans are strange.
